This series attempts to develop a compelling visual language for surface colonies on Jupiter’s moon. The cold , stark palette of the icy surface with a dark sky dominated by fiery bulk of the gas giant drove me towards a design language for the settlement based on oil rigs, but enclosed in a thick, ochre-colored hull.

After a few initial studies, the set was built out in Blender before a layer of hand-painting is composited back in with Photoshop and After Effects.
